Mechanical Plant Replacement

Princeton Engineering Services provided Mechanical, Plumbing and Electrical Engineering Design Services at Shaw Middle School for the School District of Philadelphia. The project consisted of replacing the existing heating plant consisting of (3) new 200BHP steam boilers, feedwater units, chemical and water treatment, fuel-oil storage tank and transfer pumps, natural gas booster pumps, sump and sewage ejector pumps, and new radiators and Automatic Temperature Controls for the entire school. The three Central Fans were rehabilitated which included new fan casings, new steam coils, rewound fan motors, new steam control valves, and automatic controls. Electrical work was limited to providing power for all new equipment via new 208V, 3-phase, 4-wire service, and new lighting for the Boiler Room, Ash Room, Engine Room, Coal Storage Room, and three Central Fan Rooms.
