Relocation of and Upgrades to Twenty Core-Sites & One Data Center

The School District of Philadelphia’s Office of Technology Services (SDP OTS) currently supports and maintains twenty existing Information / Instruction Technology Wide Area Network (IT-WAN) Core-Sites, which are central nodes in the overall “data distribution network via optical fiber cabling” scheme.

The scope of work consisted of relocating the existing Core-Sites to a grade-level installation readily accessible from the building exterior only, and not accessible from within the school buildings. Princeton Engineering Services and its sub-consultants provided the design for Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection and Architectural upgrades to the Core-Site installations. Said upgrades were as necessary to ensure that the core-site installations were improved to be commensurate with the “Mission Critical Facility” function that they are required to serve.
