Air Conditioning Retrofit

Princeton Engineering Services provided design and construction administration services as the MEP Prime Consultant for Air Conditioning upgrades at Q505 Hillcrest High School in Queens, New York. The scope of work included new split system air conditioning units serving ten (10) classrooms, with provisions for future expansion of the system. Appropriate cooling was achieved via two roof-mounted condensing units connected to multiple indoor evaporator units. Refrigerant piping interconnected the condensing unit and classroom evaporator units without penetrating the existing warranted roof. The Automatic Temperature Control System allowed for central control by the Building Engineer, as well as limited control by the individual classroom instructors. The new evaporator units, associated condensate pumps and roof-mounted condensing units were powered from new electrical power panelboards and feeders from the Main Switchboard in the cellar Electrical Room.
